As a counsellor, Teresa will focus on developing a safe space, where you can work together on your healing journey. Her approach to counselling can help you learn new ways of understanding, relating to and coping with your painful experiences and encourages you to take intentional steps towards a rich and meaningful life. Teresa works with a committed belief in the human ability to heal emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and physically when provided with the right support, a healthy environment, and when connected with one’s own sense of meaningfulness and purpose.
Teresa has a master’s degree in counselling psychology, is a registered clinical counsellor (RCC 12306) and has 20 years experience in counselling, family
support and psychotherapy. She has worked in a variety of settings such as urgent assessment and treatment clinics, community based integrated crisis response teams and mental health programs. She has had the honour of working with diverse populations experiencing a broad range of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, eating disorders, mood disorders, psychosis, grief and loss and trauma.
In Teresa’s practice, she uses an integrated approach, which means borrowing from different counselling modalities to uniquely tailor the experience to the individual client. The modalities that most inspire her work are; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy, Mindful Based Stress Reduction and EMDR.
She provides individual counselling for young adults over 19 years of age, adults and elders who are having difficulties coping with the ups and downs of life. She currently offers both in-person and online therapy.
